RTW Trip Goa, India Day 82 and Day 83: The Beaches of South Goa

The next few days were spent motorbiking around Southern Goa.  Here is a sum up of where we went, with some tips!
Benaulim Beach: Busy beach with a lot of restaurants.  Too busy for us.  The BEST restaurant close to Benaulim Beach is Once Upon a Time Restaurant, an excellent and cheap restaurant for great local food and excellent Italian. On a side street at the first intersection.

Colva Beach: Another busy touristy beach with restaurants and shops.  Wasn’t our cup of tea, but we did enjoy a non-beachside, family restaurant called Sagar Kinara for some yummy thali.  Very popular with Indians, and the food was tasty, with good service.  If they don’t have enough change for you, don’t be surprised if they give you a little chocolate bar instead of your 5 rupees back.  🙂

– Colonial Houses of Southern Goa: There are a couple of gorgeous colonial homes that hold old antiques and photos in the village of Chandor.  The Braganza House was built in the 16th century, and since ninety something Aida de Menezes Braganza still lives in the home, it still has a very vintage, lived-in feel.  If you choose to only go into one of the homes, I personally liked the one with Aida.  She let you take photos, there’s a little church in the building, and while it’s not as museum-like as the other side, it has way more character.

Mobor Beach: A small and quiet beach with a couple of beach restaurants.  A great relaxing beach to hang out for the day.  A few tourists, but not a lot.

Some puppies we found at Beach.

Zalor Beach – Super relaxing beach that had only one beach restaurant.  Very chill.

What I learned: Hoard your small bills like they are your life as it is hard to break larger bills.  Also, make sure bills are not ripped or taped, as many places won’t take them.

Motorbiking through the beaches of Goa. Watch out for water buffalo crossings!
